Liberty & Sacrifice was Frederick Hart’s maquette submission for the World War II monument which was to be placed on the National Mall in Washington DC. Mr. Hart passed prior to the awarding of the commission. Among the other monuments Hart created during his lifetime are the “Three Soldiers” at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington DC and the “Creation” sculptures on the West Façade of Washington National Cathedral.
